Derrick Rose is passionate about today’s youth staying in school to pursue an accredited education alongside their extracurricular interests. He values innovation, creativity, drive, and perseverance, and thus has created the Rose Scholars scholarship project to empower students through his financial support.

An American professional NBA player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Derrick played one year of college basketball for the Memphis Tigers before being drafted first overall by his hometown Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft.

Rose was born and raised in the Chicago area, and attended Simeon Career Academy. Rose led the Tigers to the most wins in NCAA history (a 38–2 record), their first number one ranking in 25 years, and an appearance in the NCAA championship game.

After being named the NBA Rookie of the Year at 22, he became the youngest player to win the NBA Most Valuable Player award in 2011.
